Responsible for maintaining financial, accounting, administrative and personnel services in order to meet legislative requirements and support National Paints Oman Finance.


Administer and monitor the financial system in order

to ensure that the municipal finances are maintained

in an accurate and timely manner


§ Assist with preparation of the budget

§ Implement financial policies and procedures

§ Establish and maintain cash controls

§ Establish, maintain and reconcile the general ledger

§  Maintaining the NPOM Financial reporting and necessary costing

§ Monitor cash reserves and investments

§ Prepare and reconcile bank statements

§ Establish and maintain supplier accounts

§ Maintain the purchase order system

§ Ensure data is entered into the system

§ Ensure transactions are properly recorded and entered into the computerized accounting system

§ Prepare income statements

§ Prepare balance sheets

§ Prepare monthly financial statements

§ Prepare quarterly reports and report on variances

§ Assist with the annual audit

§ Maintain the computerized accounting system

§ Maintain financial files and records


2.         Maintain the accounts payable and accounts receivable systems in order to ensure complete and accurate records of all sums of money


§ Ensure the safeguarding of all National Paints Oman

§ Reconcile the accounts payable

§ Reconcile weekly deposits

§ Reconcile & Maintained Fixed Assets register

3.         Principal Accountabilities:

1.    Management

·         Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

·         Manage outsourced functions

·         Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives

·         Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.

2.    Transactions

·         Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner

·         Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable

·         Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly

·         Process payroll in a timely manner

·         Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis

·         Maintain the chart of accounts

·         Maintain an orderly accounting filing system

·         Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions

3.    Reporting

·         Issue timely and complete financial statements of NPOM

·         Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report for Auditor

·         Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations

·         Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts

·         Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

·         Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

  4.    Compliance

·         Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit

·         Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants

·         Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings


  1. Costing:

 The NPG Financial Accountant will also help in the following costing in Oman


·         Prepare, analyze and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by brand by customer type

·         Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward

·         Prepare collateral reporting

·         Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories

·         Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls

·         Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts by customer type by division

·         Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability

·         Work in special projects as required

·         Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules, and others

·         Ensure timely submission, accuracy, and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management



· Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses

· Report on breakeven points by products, work centers, and factories

· Report on margins by product and division

· Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances

· Analyze capital budgeting requests

·  Perform cost accumulation tasks as a member of the target costing group
